This study aims to create a tool that can be used to facilitate the coconut pickers in the South Coastal areas who usually Dexperience difficulty and fatigue when climbing tall coconut trees. This tool is designed to provide assistance to coconut pickers when they climb up coconut trees so that harvesting can take place more quickly and safely. This research ranges from finding ideas, designing tools, looking for materials, manufacturing the tool, and trials. The trials are performed by directly using the tool to climb tall palm trees, concrete electric poles, pillars, and so forth.
Results of this study show that the tool is very useful for climbing coconut trees, concrete electricity poles, pillars, and so forth. Trials for climbing coconut trees deliver the following data: Tool installment takes 3 minutes; climbing speed is 5.5 cm / second; Coconut pickers can take a rest during the climbing activity.
