RESPON PETANI BAWANG MERAH TERHADAP PESTISIDA HAYATI DI KECAMATAN SANDEN KABUPATEN BANTUL
This research was aimed to evaluate the extent of the response of Red Onion farmer’s in Sanden district, Bantul regency toward bio- pesticide and determine the factors influencing farmer’s response based on application.
Descriptive method was applied in this research with using survey technique for collecting main data with questionnaires while multiple regression technique was applied in data analysis.
This might be understood since their response on bio-pesticide application was depended on capability on preparing bio-pesticide, perception on price of chemical pesticide and the their cultivation area. The higher the skill in preparing bio-pesticide the farmers had the higher their respond on bio-pesticide, while the larger the cultivation area the lower the farmers’ response on application of bio-pesticide.
On the other hand, farmer’s attitude towards bio-pesticides was influenced by intensity of extension service and accessibility to the raw materials of bio-pesticide. The more intensive extension services and easier in accessing to the raw materials, the higher response of farmers on bio-pesticide. Meanwhile, the application of bio-pesticide was influenced by the skill in preparing bio-pesticide and the perception of the risk of loosing harvests. The higher the skill in preparing bio-pesticide and the higher the risk of harvest loss, the lower response of the farmer’s on biopesticide.
